Straight-wing-plane

Straight wing is the oldest aircraft wing design ever made, it was first seen working in the Wright Flyer, though also failed-try aircraft that had wings featured this design. It simply consists in a straight-line board structure that includes all the wing components.

Trivia[]

  • The Yakovlev YAK-40 is the only commercial jet to feature this wing configuration. It's not so common due to it's lower resistance to jet-speed alr flow.
  • Ironically, the first aircraft to break the sound barrier, the Bell X-1, featured this wing design.
