My father was present when this Stuka was shot down.  It used to come over the camp every evening on a strafing run.  One day a Sergeant got so fed up he unslung his Lee Enfield and fired a single shot.  The plane jerked, staggered upwards and then plunged to earth.  The gunner was shaken but unharmed, the pilot had been shot straight through his forehead.  The men built a circle of stones round it and painted the white.  Western Desert. bob@hinton330.fsnet.co.ukEnter the description here.
